10:30am The Max Keen Lecture: Sir Francis Drake - England's Greatest Naval hero?
In another one of his animated and controversial talks, local historian, sailor and teacher Max Keen returns to present a touchy subject - if you are Spanish of course! Learn about the real Sir Francis Drake: his three year voyage around the world; was Drake the true hero of the Armada campaign and if he really got under the skin of King Philip of Spain. More shenanigans, blood, and good old English derring-do from Max, who will also shed light on the warships of the time. Warning: Not for the politically correct!
