Visual Arts Events

Cynthia Pearson, Visual Arts Director and co-ordinator of the Festival's annual Arts events, is very excited by the exhibitions planned for 2012.

Every year the Festival mounts a minimum of two art exhibitions - usually more. The two public gallery spaces in the town namely The Wyre Forest Gallery in Bewdley Museum and Bewdley Library Gallery host our main exhibitions. In addition most years the town is brought to life with the exhibition of children's artwork in shop windows, the churches and the Library.

In past years we have also had a range of art projects. An example being The Bewdley Tapestries where people in the town stitched a likeness of themselves which were mounted against a background image of Severnside South. These tapestries hung for many years in the waiting room of Bewdley Medical Centre.

This year's art exhibitions feature two inspiring RBSA artists. Some of Dennis Minchin's paintings are being shown in an exhibition entitled 'Face to Face' at the Wyre Forest Gallery, Bewdley Museum from 5th October to 18th November.

Prints from Paul Hipkiss' collection entitled 'A Fine Cut' are being exhibited in the Bewdley Library Gallery from 4th October to 3rd November. One of these prints was recently exhibited in the 2012 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
