Events for the Family

It is important for Bewdley Festival to engage with the whole community and in particular the younger generations, and consequently we aim to bring events to the town that will have wide appeal.

Our programme in 2019 included three very different events for families and younger audiences.

In St George’s Hall we presented a glimpse into the world of Star Wars with a talk by puppeteer extraordinaire Brian Herring. Brian is the man behind many of the Star Wars characters and his stories and clips were a delight.

Science guru Mark Thompson brought his “Spectacular Science Show” to Bewdley School and demonstrated various understandabale ways in which science “works”.

The final event of Festival 32 was in St Anne’s Church and included children from local schools singing a specially written work by local composer Jim Ineson.

Festival 33 includes a hands-on modelling workshop from the team at the marvelous Aardman Animations where participants will make their own model of one of their characters; Wallace, Shaun the Sheep or Morph. Thw workshops will be followed by a showing of two Aardman short movies on the screen at St. George’s Hall

Later in the week, TV science presenter and producer Greg Foot will be talking about the Future of Food in a presentation and film with younger audiences in mind. The burning question he will be tackling is “How do we feed the 50 billion people potentially crowding our planet in 2050?
